Anne Murray- Canadian Country Artist
Unlike other singers who hailed from America, Anne is regarded as the first Canadian female country singer to score a top spot on American music charts. She has a great fan following in both Canada and America and is said to have paved the way for Canadian female country singers. She became an instant hit with her song ‘Snowbird’ in 1970, which was an amalgamation of pop and country culture.

Her popularity can be understood from the fact that during 4 decades of her profession, she sold 55 million copies of her work, internationally. Murray married Bill Langstroth, a music producer in 1975. The couple has two children: William and Dawn. Dawn, a singer-songwriter, has recorded with her mother several times, including the duet “Let There Be Love” in 1999. Murray and Langstroth separated in 1997 and divorced the following year. Langstroth died in May 2013. Murray has lived in Markham, Ontario, since the late 1970s.
